GELLC’s operating philosophy places the highest priority on the safety of our employees and protection of the environment. The natural beauty, water and wildlife resources in the North Fork Valley area of Colorado demand that GELLC adhere to the highest levels of environmental stewardship in all facets of our operations. This is accomplished by strict compliance with regulatory rules and requirements, working closely with Gunnison and Delta counties, the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, citizen groups and others to identify potential impacts from our work and to address these impacts with the most current best management practices and technologies.
GELLC has constructed four gathering systems, three compressor and treating stations and significant water handling infrastructure. These systems were designed to mitigate impacts from our operations. For example, GELLC utilizes non-potable water produced by “coalseam gas” wells to drill and complete new gas wells. This means little or no fresh water resources are consumed by GELLC. In addition, GELLC has installed below ground water pipelines which allow water to be pumped to and from well locations so that traffic, dust and noise are minimized. This thoughtful approach to our operations means that future impacts from additional well drilling and operations will be minimized.
The Ragged Mountain Gathering System and Compressor Station gathers, treats and compresses gas from GELLC’s project area and currently delivers it into the Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Pipeline, an intrastate pipeline. It is anticipated that the Ragged Mountain Gathering System will be interconnected to the Bull Mountain system.
