W. I. Koch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Koch excels as an international businessman, chemical engineer, art collector, world-class sailor and devoted father. As the founder of The Oxbow Group, a diversified holding company, Koch has created a business which Forbes Magazine consistently recognizes as one of the top 500 privately held companies in America.
In his role as founder, owner and president of the Oxbow Group, Koch has helped finance, build, manage and operate clean-energy power plants throughout the United States, the Philippines and Costa Rica. Oxbow Carbon and Minerals, a trading company Koch founded almost two decades ago, now has offices across the globe, operating in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, St. Croix, China, Egypt, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, and India.
Koch’s unique business approach stems from his T3 philosophy – talent, teamwork and technology. It is a philosophy that encourages employee participation, rewards teamwork and relies on scientific research to make calculated risks. Koch used the T3 philosophy to win the 1992 America’s Cup, the most coveted prize in sailing.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, Koch is a graduate of Culver Military Academy. He received his bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Together with his wife Bridget Rooney-Koch, he and his six children reside in Palm Beach, Florida.
M. Brad Robinson, President
Mr. Robinson joined The Oxbow Group in 1989 and has held a variety of financial and management positions. In 1997, he became Vice President of Asset Management and Vice President of Oxbow Power Corporation in 2000. Later, as President of Oxbow Power Corporation, Mr. Robinson was responsible for all of Oxbow’s global power generation business. Mr. Robinson was elected President of Gunnison Energy LLC in 2003. Prior to joining Oxbow, Mr. Robinson worked for Tenneco Oil Company for twelve years and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Nicholls State University.
Salar Nabavian, General Manager
Mr. Nabavian received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University. He began his career with Chevron as a drilling & completions engineer in the Gulf of Mexico working the shelf and deepwater offshore blocks. He then transitioned to a horizontal coal bed methane company called CDX Gas as a Project Manager. Salar grew the business unit in Northern West Virginia to a successful profit center. CDX sold to Trust Company of the West for $835MM. He then transitioned to multiple entrepreneurial ventures in multiple basins such as East Texas, Appalachia, South Louisiana, Anadarko Basin and the SWD business in the Ft. Worth Basin. Salar eventually hired on with Inflection Energy as EVP with assets in the Marcellus Shale. Salar and his team grew the acreage position from 1,500 to 50,000 net acres via acquisitions and organic leasing. Salar departed Inflection in mid-2015 to start a new company as the CEO and received funding by Denham Capital. Salar reviewed assets in the Eagle Ford shale and the Rockies and eventually transitioned to running the Gunnison Energy assets in the Piceance Basin.
